SOUS Project: DEER

SOUS Friday Diecut Challenge: Use a deer on your project.

Here I am with this week's design team project for SOUS featuring a die cut of a deer!  Well, in my case, a family of deer.

I probably create an equal mixture of layouts and cards, but rarely do I make an altered project.  I didn't actually "alter" anything, but you get the idea. I was actually inspired with several different ideas to come up with this framed art.

First, I saw this cute 8x8 frame in HL and the wheels started turning. Second, I recently helped a friend who wanted the use of my Cricut to make Christmas presents for her family.  She showed up with an arm load of Christmas colored paper and a very specific idea for her lettering.  The font I used on this is the same font she used on her altered projects. Lastly, I needed to use deer. So I rummaged thru my choice of files and "remembered" my deer family from myscrapchick.com!!!

This project is "mine"! Meaning I didn't lift this from anywhere I know.  I'm sure someone has made something resembling this before, but I still plucked this out of my own head.  Thank you for stopping by! I hope this week's die cut challenge at SOUS will inspire you to make something with a deer too!

Here is a closer view of the embellished deer.

Santa's Workshop: Diecut Challenge

SOUS Die Cut Challenge: Toys Toys Toys!!!
Santa's Workshop

Welcome back to Friday's SOUS die cut challenge: toys toys toys!!  I was lucky - I had the perfect picture to scrap of my son posing with Santa in his toy workshop!!  But, I did have to do some "research" to get the right die cut toys for this LO.  I ended up at www.svgcuts.com and fell in love with one of their files featuring nothing but "old time" toys.  The file has a good mixture of dies for both boys and girls.

And of course I'm overrun with AC Christmas paper and yes, used a lot of scraps!!  Also I scraplifted this LO from one of my pins on Pinterest.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you feel inspired to make your own LO with toys!!!

Dog, tricycle and car are all from svgcuts.com  The glittery chipboard items are from my stash.

The die and Santa nesting doll are also from svgcuts.com The flower is handmade by me.  I also used Spellbinders to accent the photo.

The title is from CC: Winter Frolic.  I used the xmas red Stickles on the word "workshop".

Thank You

Hello there!

I made this card for a special client at my work who provided a holiday dinner for all of us today.  What a treat!!!  She loves and cares for many animals and has been a huge supporter of our animal hospital.

So naturally, I asked to make her a special "thank you" card instead of getting her a store-bought card!!

Our client loves cats plus she provided a holiday meal so  . . . . I came up with this adorable cat from Treasure Box Designs plus I included a Santa hat from another file.  I followed a sketch by Mojo Monday.

SOUS Project: Die Cut Owls

Hello friends!! Here we are with another project for SOUS.  This Friday our project was to include a die cut owl.

Lately my brain has been on overload and I simply could not come up with a layout that included owls.  So I tried a different approach and made Christmas tags with these cute snow owls from TreasureBoxDesigns.

Sweet and simple this week I know . . . but hopefully inspiring all the same. Thanks for stopping by!!

P.S. I REALLY need to get a set up made for taking pictures of my crafty projects.

Border Collie

A repeat patron of mine asked for a "Heal" card with a border collie.  So, I went digging . . . deep.  I did end up using a Treasure Box Designs file I already had.  Instead of making the dog a various shade of brown, I made him black and white and voila!!

I had two days to make this card.  Now, that's not unusual in itself except the request came on a Tuesday.  *chuckles* I almost never scrap or do anything crafty during the week.

The feedback from my patron was the card was well received by everyone who signed it and by the recipient (none of whom I know).

Thanks for stopping by!!

Here are mine!! I am so pleased with how these turned out!!  I am also just a little bit sad to have to let them go . . . but that's just inspiration to make more right?

SOUS DieCut Challenge

Hey there Peeps!! The SOUS diecut challenge for this week is to use the words Fall or Autumn on your project.

So for myself, I had two things I really wanted to use.  This adorable bear and title from Treasure Box Designs AND a photo of my son and husband at our first traditional outing to local Huber's Farm.

I used a sketch from a pin on Pinterest.

I'm having a LOT of fun trying to learn how to make "eyes".  I could have gone all out - you know - with eyelashes and more extreme shading but I wanted to stick with a more boyish looking bear.

Thanks for stopping by!!!  What are you gonna make?

A closer look at the shading and placement of the die cut bear.

Supplies:
PP: Scraps!
Honeycomb template
Distress Ink: Walnut Stain
Treasure Box Designs Die Cuts
Buttons and Brads by Bobunny
Wood Die Cuts stained with Distress Stains
This list does not include the supplies I used for the bear, leaves, flowers and crow.

Thinking of You

I made this card for a dear friend and coworker whose father recently passed away.  She's an avid pet lover, especially dogs, so I reached for a Treasure Box Design puppy.  I followed a sketch by Mojo Monday.

The flower is handmade by me using the CC Mother's Day Bouquet.

I was going to add stitching to the card, but before I knew it I had it all glued down! I did add glossy accents to the eyes for extra effect.

I apologize for the mediocre picture.  I took this picture in a hurry with my iPhone.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Cheryl!!

Earlier this week I made this very simple card using the CC Damask.  It's a cartridge that I thought was really "cool" but have not found a way to use it until now.  Inspiration for this card came from Pinterest and some "simpler" cards.

That's all I have for today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:

Cutest Pumpkin . . .

Today's diecut challenge from SOUS is to use pumpkin or vegetable.  Well . . . I used pumpkins!!!

By the way, I LOVE being on the SOUS diecut team.  It's suits me very well.  I get to play with die cuts (which I love) AND make layouts, which I prefer over cards.  Not that I'm giving up on cards, but lay outs are my first and favorite passion.

I've dabbled in watercolor pencils, stamping, embossing, and even drawing and painting.  But I truly LOVE working with paper.  I have not gotten bored with making "die cuts" or even paper flowers.

There are many times in this hobby that I'll make a LO and think "it's cute . . . it's alright . . . it'll do".  I'm not particularly in love with what I've done, but I just don't know how to fix it.  Maybe I picked the wrong paper or picture?  Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood to really blend it all together?  Who knows, right?

But there are other times that I've fall in love with this hobby all over again. Everything comes together and just looks so fabulous, adorable, or just cute!!

That's how I feel about this layout . . . I just love it and hope it inspires you in some way.

I couldn't find the right 3 picture sketch so I just made one myself.   Many years of scrapbooking have taught me numerous things, including "if you can't find it, make it yourself!"

Many die cut layers here.  I also added some store bought wood die cuts.  The number 4 symbolizes my son's age.  The faces are from Peach Keen Stamps.

Up close of some stitching.

Closer look at my die cut title.

PP:  BoBunny "Apple Cider Collection"

Chores

Chore Chart:

I finished this for my son several week's ago, although I started on it nearly a year ago.  We sold our previous house, moved, etc etc.  I was originally inspired with the idea from a Cricut catalog.  So I invested in the Cricut: Chore Chart mini cartridge and voila!!

Needless to say it is a nice visual for my little boy to remind him what his chores are.  Nothing too complicated right now and I can always add to it later. Each hook has about four tags of various chores on it.

Inspired??  Hope so :)

Supplies:

Cricut Cartridge Chore Chart
Cricut Cartridge Boys will be Boys (Title)
Wood Plague
Black Acrylic Paint and brush

Halloween - SOUS Creepy Crawlies

Happy Halloween bloggers!!

I'm happy to announce that I'll be part of SOUS die cut team.  I will still contribute to the card sketch team when I can.

Ok, so maybe this isn't quite creepy but . . . I hope it gives you inspiration anyway.  Go check out SOUS for more inspiration from out talented ladies for die cuts on your projects.

My son was Harry Potter in the quittich outfit for Halloween 2011.  He was so darned cute in the glasses!

For this LO, I was inspired by http://scrapbyrophilippsen.blogspot.com  I also wanted to use a die cut file that I purchased quite a while ago from myscrapchick.com

The PP is some scraps from the authetique line.

The bat flourish in the corner is a die cut too.  I think it's from myscrapchick too??

I think I'll add some journaling for a final touch on this layout.

Up close look at the wizard bear.

Another close look at the style of the layout.

SOUS October 3rd

Hello!!  Here we are with our first SOUS project for October!!  The sketch is provided by Leah Schaeffer.

This particular project is near and dear to me as I made this card for my son's 6th birthday!! I'm also particularly proud of this project as I used nothing but scraps from my Bobunny pile!

I have added my favorite embellishment, stitching, and again used an embossed die and verve stamp on this project.  But I'm mostly excited to finally use the really cute die cut candles from "my scrap chick".

I think the twine adds just enough "flavor" to the card, don't you?  For extra added flare, I also used glossy accents on the candle wax.

No Sweeter Kisses

No Sweeter Kisses:

I recently got some family shots done by CaptureMePhotos.  This particular photo was one of my favorites and just couldn't wait to scrap it.  I'm usually at least a year behind when it comes to scrapping events.

I followed a sketch by Sketch n Scrap that I pinned on Pinterest.  The PP are from Jillibean Soup.  The embellishment in the lower right corner is a verve stamp although the "I love you" is from another set of stamps that I have.  The flowers were all handmade by me.

Nothin' SweetEr than this boys Kiss

This flower was handmade by me and inspired from morepaperthanshoes.blogspot.com

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to a special little girl!!  I made this card for my coworker's daughter who is celebrating her first birthday today!!!  I really enjoyed getting out my peachy keen stamps to make this card.  The sentiment is from My Craft Spot.  I followed a sketch by Mojo Monday.  Because this card is going to a toddler, I kept it really simple.

All little kids like balloons right??

Die Cut bear and balloon are both from Cricut: Create a Critter.

SOUS DT Card Sketch

Hello and welcome to September's second card sketch design for SOUS.  This sketch was designed by Leah Schaeffer.

I have three coworkers this year who have had or are having a baby girl!! That's a lot of pinkness!!  I made this card with my coworker in mind.

The diecut bear and clouds was a weekly freebie by treasureboxdesigns.com  The "welcome baby" stamp is a new stamp from a set I purchased from vervestamps.com

I inked the clouds with chalk ink.  I also inked the bear with chalk ink and followed that with chalk for dimension.  The eyes were done with white gel roll pen, chalk, and micron pen.

Thank you for stopping by today!!

Acres of Fun!!

This LO goes along with the story of the previous LO.  Same place and same time.  A while back I made the barn for a swap and this is first time I felt I could use it.  It describes the day perfectly and is really a simply die cut from svgcuts.com

I also just kind of made up the LO as I went along.  I was anxious just to be done with it.  LOL - can't be "in love" with them all.

Thanks for looking!!

Happy Fall!

Fall is nearly here everyone!! My favorite season simply cause it's cooler and lovelier.  How about I keep my allergies out of this though, huh?

This session I want to start with a trip I took last year with my son's daycare.  It was so much fun and I'm so very glad I was able to go.  My next blog will continue the story even though it is not "technically" a two page layout.  I REALLY don't do two page layouts.  *shrugs*

Sometimes it is difficult to blend the "old" with the "new".  Old meaning die cuts, and new meaning distressing, inking etc etc and also explains why this LO looks so very different from others I've done.  But I love die cuts and will continue to use them where ever I can.

I used a combination of papers from Imaginesce line and others I randomly had.
Here is the sketch I loosely followed from studiocalico.typepad.com:

The scarecrow and pumpkins are from myscrapchick.com The leaves are from a punch.

Thank you so much for stopping by!!!

SOUS Project

It's that time of month again.  SOUS has a new card sketch challenge this week.  Here's what I came up with.

Happy Belated Birthday Mom!!

Yep, this card is for my mom and I'm VERY LATE getting it to her.  Invested in some Verve Stamps and Dies last week and am happy with their service and products.  I thought it was about time I had some sentiment stamps to work with on my cards.  Better late than never right??  Thank you for visiting!

Flowers are handmade using SCAL file.  Sentiment and die is a Verve stamp.  Embossing done with my cuttlebug.

SOUS sketch provided by Frank Garcia.

SOUS "Hello"

For this week, we followed a sketch by Leah Schaeffer at SOUS.

I must say, at first this sketch was a real challenge for me.  I had no idea WHAT I was going to make.  But then I reached for some October Afternoon paper and it just started coming together.  Sometimes, that's just how it works. You really have no idea what you're doing and the next thing you know, you've made something adorable.  Sometimes too, my work can be "duds".  But I hope this inspires you to sit at your desk, just let it flow and watch what happens!!!

So here's "HELLO"

The PP is all by October Afternoon.  The title was designed on my SCAL program and cut using my cricut.  The bird is a fabric sticker by Heidi Grace Designs.  I also used machine stitching.

Quilled Horses

Quilled Horses:

A couple years ago, I was commissioned to make cards with quilled horses on them.  I guess she like them cause a couple months ago she asked for 4 more.

I really should name these "War Horses" cause it was a battle getting them going.  First of all, I seriously procrastinated getting started.  Then, when I was ready, I couldn't find my books for designing the horses anywhere!!  A few weeks later they turn up - in a very unlikely place!!!  I spent one morning making the horses and the next day making four cards.  They are all made very similarly with different PP.  I followed the same sketch by Mojo Monday for all four of them.

These two are my favorite pictures of them.  TFL!

PP by MME 6x6 pack Union Square.  I'm nearly out of this pack!  Loved working with it.

PP by MME 6x6 pack Sunshine.

I used to make cards with quilled critters on them all the time.  I stopped doing that for several reasons.  One, mailing them is a challenge.  They get smashed in a regular envelope.  Secondly, I discovered I really enjoyed paper piecing more (plus they do not get crushed).

Scraplifted

Scraplifted!

I had a special order for 6 cards.  4 cards were to have quilled horses on them - you'll see that later.  The other two were to be "birthday" cards.  One for a "girl" and one for a "boy".

I was stumped on the "boy" card cause I knew she didn't mean little boys. More like a "guy".  So I finally dug thru my pins on Pinterest and voila!!  I am totally thrilled with how it turned out.  Yep, I completely lifted a card someone else had made.  But that's ok.  Sometimes (a lot of times) you just have to do that in order to get moving on projects.

I changed things up a little bit by adding stitching and no embossing.  TFL!

The PP are all by October Afternoon.  The stars and flags were made on my cricut using SCAL.

SOUS - thinking of you

August 1st SOUS Project:

Thinking of You

This week at SOUS we were to follow a sketch designed by Debbie Burns.  Here's the sketch:

The dog is an svg die cut by Treasure Box Designs.  The PP is by MME 6x6 pack "sunshine".  Textured the background paper with embossing dots thru my cuttlebug.  The dog is also sitting up on pop dots.

This card was also made for a coworker of mine whose friend recently lost a beloved pet.  If you have been following my blog this whole time, you already know that I work with animals and tend to gravitate towards making cards with a critter on them.  Plus, when I get a special order, it's what my gals want!!

Slip n' Slide

Summer is here and all the wonderful backyard fun that goes with it.  This is our first year with a slip n' slide in our back yard.  Usually, I'm at least a year behind when making LO's.  BUT, these were such fun pictures that I didn't want to wait to make a LO about it.  Also, I rarely put more than one photo on a LO so this one was a bit more challenging for me personally.

And yes, putting those new found skills with my camera hard at work.  Taking photos outside doesn't seem to be my problem.  Now indoor pictures . . . another story.

PP by Bobunny's Sunkissed collection.

Sprayed glimmer mist on the Kraft paper for extra effect.  Love the colorful title and have used those particular letters several times with other projects too.

I found the clouds on sale at Michael's while shopping with my sister.  The squares are fussy cut from a 12x12 pp paper.  Yep, machine stitched on this LO.

I fussy cut the splashing water from Bobunny pp.  It took a little bit of arranging to figure out where to put it.  TFL!!
