The other day I went "researching" thru Pinterest for inspiration and eye-candy. I found this coffee themed layout and I KNEW I wanted to recreate something of my own.

I have quite a few supplies left from my time with International Scrapbook Garden and one of the themes was this similar color scheme. So I dragged it all out (plus some) and slowly built this layout over two days.

Altered Frame - THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX

I am inspired by many sources, especially More than Words, Lindy's Stamp Gang, and the Finnabair design team. I do gravitate towards process videos by Nadya Drozdova, Gabrielle Pollaco, and Olga Bielska. However, I don't quite have the stash these ladies have to work with so I must get creative and work with what I do have. Practice, practice, practice . . . right?

I have been following the challenge blog More than Words for quite some time. I have slowly learned to just play with my art supplies and make my efficient side of my personality take a coffee break. This month's challenge with More than Words is absolute no brainer for me. I could make 20 projects from this challenge off the top of my head. I have two successful book clubs, one of them called Drink n' Dragons. It's all about fantasy, magic, intelligent (hulky) men and strong (kick-ass) women. One of our favorite characters is . . . dragons.

I confess, I found it a bit amusing that this challenge talks about fairies and butterflies. But dragons have wings too, cause without them they are just overgrown lizards.

Brads, old flowers, layers of Creative Embellishments chipboard and trinkets in my stash

all make up this delicious corner!

I just love the quotes to be found by 7 Dots Studio! I painted the dragon separately from

the rest of the piece.

Using my small stencils, I did manage to stencil the background with modeling paste

to add extra effect to the frame.

I did not have any "fancy" blue in my stash, other than generic acrylic paint. Worked

like a charm to give this piece a touch of bold color!

ISBG: Today is full of possibilites

Hello there! Today I want to share with you my latest project using International Scrapbook Garden's toolshed kit: Colorburst.

So far, I have made five pages with this kit and love them all. It is so full of masculine goodies that it is just brilliant for any boyish pages you want to make. The kit has lots of items from 49 and Market, Lindy's Stamp Gang, Creative Embellishments and 7 Dots Studio . . . you just can't go wrong. All supplies are listed at the end of my post.

One of my son's last 5th grade projects was called "The Decades Project" and he was part of the 1910's and 20's group. The kids were encouraged to dress up according to the time period they represented. We just couldn't resist. My husband and son made an evening of it and bought a suit closely matching the time period. I found a hat on Amazon and well. . . . you can see the results. He shined at school all day, refusing to change. I think he secretly loved all the attention.

This is also the same time of year that blue bonnets bloom here in Texas. Lots of moms were asking about getting photos of their kids and blue bonnets on FB. I bragged online saying  . . . . "eat your heart out, blue bonnets". Even boys need to be taught to be comfortable with how they look and feel in their own skin.

Without further ado, here it is. I hope my work inspires you. I know I get enormous inspiration following 49 and Market's design team as well as Lindy's Stamp Gang. Hint: someday, when I'm all grown up, I hope to be good enough to land one of those design teams.

Most of this page is from the kit, the main exception is the Tim Holtz' metal embellishments.

I love layering die cuts. Having a small cluster away from the main photo keeps your eye moving.

I am learning that it is ok to add flowers to "boy" layouts. By adding the metal embellishments, I believe it helps the page retain it's masculine feel. Without the metal, I felt my page was just a bit too "flat" feeling.

I layered tags and frames here. This is a great way to keep my stash from becoming overwhelming in my crafty space.

I added black acrylic paint splatters at the end. My page looked "fine" without it, but the splatters give it that final mixed media touch we all love.

The mixed media kit come with Paste-eez "Hold the Mustard". I lightly added this with my pinky finger all over the page. It really made the green and teal colors "pop" and added a brightness to my page, which otherwise felt rather dark.

ISBG: You Color my World

Hello! Welcome to my blog. Today I'm sharing with you a new layout using International Scrapbook Garden's toolshed kit called 'Colorburst'.

There are so many interpretations with this kit! Love every little detail in it. You can make a crazy color combo page, or even just a monochrome page and love the results either way.

With this page, I wanted to use every color provided in the main kit and mixed media bonus kit. We recently stopped by Cadillac Ranch on Route 66 in Texas. These cars are standing straight up, in a row, and are weirdly part of our modern American history. People not only stop by to visit, but to spray paint the cars as well. These cars are located on the flat plains so the wind is absolutely relentless and intense as well.

Aren't these flowers beautiful!?

I envisioned the background a certain way and ended up with a "hot mess". LOL! So I felt the need to add lots of embellishment to tone down the background. I did use leaf die cuts made with my Silhouette Cameo here.

The mixed media kit comes with Dazzlerz 'Pucker Up Pink', which is a shimmering dimensional paste. It's an incredibly strong and powerful color!!! I applied black gesso to the title and added two different embossing powders. Polka purple is part of the mixed media kit. Lindy's Desert Moon Copper Teal is from my stash. 

Did you know that those long titles mean there is more than one color change in the powder? If you use black gesso/paint, you will get the secondary color instead.

It's brand new kit time at International Scrapbook Garden!!!! Oh my . . . . I can't even begin to express all the happiness coming from this new toolshed kit 'Colorburst'!!

Thank goodness I recently went on a trip and took pictures that will go well with this kit. Cause that's why I go on trips . . . so I can scrapbook!! LOL!

Other than glue, dimensional paste and gesso, I only reached for one extra stamp from my own stash to make this page. I did use 13arts grained grit and microspheres from the previous toolshed kits on this page as well.

I love that International Scrapbook's kit designer used 49 & Market for much of this kit as well. I have never used their products before and it's love at first sight!!!!!!!

I used black gesso on the creative embellishment pieces. I also reached for 13@rts Black Microspheres and Fine-Grained Grit from previous kits to add a little more texture.

I love the two stencil templates that come with the kits. They are such versatile shapes to be used on a variety of projects.

I first added Lindy's Flat Fabio C'estla vie Cerise as the base color. I then added Lindy's magical shaker Time Travel Teal twice for extra color burst. I followed all of that with a touch of Shimmerz Paste-eez 'Hold the Mustard'. All of these colors are provided in the kits.

International Scrapbook Garden: Adjust Your Focus

Hello there! Oh boy, have I gotten onto the mixed media bandwagon!! My blog is full of paper piecing and die cut techniques so you know this is quite new to me. Here is my second project using the Toolshed Kit and Summer Concert bonus packs by International Scrapbook Garden.

I had a little help with this layout. I followed Nadia Cannizzo's YouTube video and her techniques quite closely, but the finished layout is still my own. I may be falling in love with mixed media, but I would still consider my style "clean" comparatively.

That may change in time . . . but I'm still very happy with how this turned out.

The photo is mine as well, taken in the Alps during our trip to Germany last year. I have been waiting for the "right" opportunity to scrap this sensational photo. I toyed with the title for quite a while, finally settling on a unique title, but small and in the corner. I didn't want to distract from the photo, plus I wanted to use what was provided in the kit, which was 6x12 word stickers Hazy Days by 7 Dots Studio.
