Studio Challenges: I've Got Big Dreams

Hello! Today is a new challenge theme at Studio Challenges: In Stitches.
I recently bought some new goodies from
Creative Embellishments and had FUN playing and stitching!! This page also fits
into their monthly challenge as well.

This photo of my son was taken at a car museum in Berlin, Germany during our vacation. My husband & son get excited about all these various car shows, and sometimes I get dragged along. With a big "sigh", I'll say, "Well, I guess I'll take pictures." That being said, it's the only time I can get a true photo of the essence and soul of my son. He has big dreams, and they all include cars!

I got the idea of a big stitched title from Missy Whidden and really, really
wanted to play with it using a twist of words from the
song "I like big butts and I cannot lie".

One technique I struggle with is journaling. Mainly because I usually have a lot to say
about the page and photo, and then end up writing nothing. This time I did journal,
but it's attached to the back of the page.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!!

The title font is part of a package from "The Hungry JPEG".

The various embellishments are a combo of Pretty Little Studio and
Creative Embellishments. The small tag reads "You must give everything to make
your life as beautiful as the dreams that dance in your imagination."

I cut out the title then hand-stitched all around it using regular thread.
I wanted to use thicker floss, but didn't have navy blue.

All the crazy background stamping is mostly from Creative Embellishments.
The chicken wire stamp is Tim Holtz. The ink is a combination of Tim Holtz
distress inks and chalk inks.

Freedom

Hello again!! I decided to join in with the Scrap Our Stash Tic Tac Toe challenge for July. I used
Red, White, & Blue, stars and a tag column.

I also made this layout for three other challenges at Scrapbook.com: a sketch challenge, sewing (use three different colors) and wooden embellishments challenge.

In my opinion, the American courthouse symbolizes our freedom and laws just as much as
our flag does. The right to have a jury by peers is definitely a "new age" law that we
Americans take for granted. Until I served jury duty in my late twenties,
I really did not understand the importance of this law and freedom.

These photos of my family were taken in an older courthouse
in St. Louis, MO. I was particularly fascinated by the angles of
the railings as well (which is why they ended up on the layout).

Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Studio Challenges: Explore

Today is new challenge week with Studio Challenges: Scrap about anything but a person.

First, let me just say that I'm aware that my photo editing is not all that great. I've updated my computer, etc etc etc . . . so I have a new program that I am learning. The first pic is about my fourth attempt to get it right. The following pics have entirely too much blue . . . but I'm hoping you get the idea.

This layout is about "signs" even though I used the title "explore". We were exploring Europe so . . . *shrugs*.

Imagine a time where 98% of the population could not read. So how would you communicate your business? With symbols or "picture" signs!!!! We found this cute little town in Germany called Dinkelsbuhl. Although modern, the town tried hard to show the history of Germany and Bavaria with small touches like these signs.

I found the large floral flower file from JustNick. I LOVE how it all turned out!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

The flower was getting lost in the layout so I stitched all around it with blue
thread to outline the flower.

The blue mist is Color Bloom Summer Sky spray mist. It's not
actually "teal blue". Bad photo editing, sorry.

If you asked me what I struggle with the most in crafting, it would
have to be titles. I could have a layout nearly done but still spend so
many more hours coming up with a title.

Studio Challenges: Dream

Today's challenge over at Studio Challenges is to scrap lift a fellow team member.

I chose Rachel's layout from June 6th. We both have the same free file from Paper Issues
and I have been wanting to play with it for a while.

Several years ago we had family pictures done and I have yet to scrap
about them. I have been tackling those pictures recently and am loving
the results!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

I have been playing a lot lately with making layouts that are not made with "squares".
All my cards are square, but I am loving getting away from it for my layouts.

Hand-stitched clouds for texture

Pretty Little Studio has a Woodland collection full
