I'VE BEEN TAGGED

Hello there! My sister, Alissa, participated in a recent "blog hop" that supports telling people about our styles. So it's on ongoing thing really. She tagged me as the next person on her list. Sneaky, right!?

Without further ado, let me just get to it!

1. What am I working on right now? Well, I have three different projects in my head at the moment. One is a fall layout as a guest designer for SVGCUTS. Another is a card that a friend requested and lastly a "school" themed layout for my current design team, SOUS.

2. How long does it take to make a project? With no distractions, about 2 - 3 hours. But I usually distract myself!!!

This cute bear is an svg file from Scrapping Bug Designs.

3. What are my favorite things I love to create with at the moment?  I very rarely create anything without at least making a die cut on my Silhouette Cameo, even if it's just a title. I also LOVE wooden embellishments and buttons. You will also see stitching a lot on my projects.

4. How does my writing/creating process work? I actually don't like to write or journal cause my handwriting is poor. So I write on the edges . . . of a layout (above) or around a circle for example. Sometimes I don't journal at all cause I really don't like the look.
           My creative process is really what I'm making a scrapbook page about or who I had in mind for the card. I try to make those things fit the photo I currently scrapping or the person receiving the card. THEN I work my style around it. That is also the point where I go and look for a sketch that I think would fit best with the photo(s). This is all the slow part for me. Once I figure this out, I can put together a page fairly quickly.

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired? Two things really. My sister, Alissa, and Pinterest. My sister actually got me back into scrapbooking after I gotten away from it for a couple years. She also gives me the BEST compliments on my projects and at times I feel I am making something just to see what she thinks. We also both love Pinterest, which she also got me hooked on! We have very, very different styles (she ROCKS stamping) but we are each other's biggest fans.

6. What is my signature style? Die cuts. Period. On a card. On a page. Whatever. OH - and negative space on a layout - with stitching of course!!! P.S. I do make a lot of animals (bears) with large eyes.

Hello! For today I would like to share with you my favorite photo of our previous exchange student from Germany. He is back home now but we think of him often and of course, I have plenty of photos to scrap.

Unbelievably enough, this photo was actually taken just a few days before Thanksgiving, 2013. My family is incredibly thankful for having had this young man in our lives. He is missed, but with present day technology we still get to talk to him often.

I know I followed a sketch for this layout but really can't find it again.  I did use BoBunny PP from a couple different lines for this layout.

Does this adorable mouse need an introduction!!??? I LOVE making them. The mouse, teacup and title all came from Scrapping Bug Designs.

I jazzed him up a bit with stickles and embossing. 

I am almost going to hate giving this card away this coming Christmas. Maybe I'll save it for my own shelf??

Christmas Card #2

I love box cards. They do, however, take a lot of paper to make. Be extra mindful of the actual svg file too and really think about what you want it all to look like in the end.

This box card's file is from the new set at SVGCUTS. That site has some adorable 3-D stuff.

I did jazz up the card a bit with some added buttons and bling. Paper is from EP: a Merry Christmas line. The buttons are from Hobby Lobby.

Birthday Resolution

If you haven't noticed, a lot of scrapbookers don't really scrap about themselves. Why not? Our children are definitely cute. Even our pets too. But if we think about it, we are always interested in our past generations and long ago relatives as adults, not as children. What did they do and what were their struggles? Who were they as a person? What were their daily lives really like. So on and so forth.

Today is my birthday and I am making a resolution today. I will try my utmost to scrap more about me. I will try to tell myself everyday that "I am lovely", even with the extra weight and wrinkles. I came across a blog that had a list of questions to ask myself and answer. I am going to try and eventually answer them all. I hope my future relatives, and most especially my son, will understand a little bit of what I was like as a woman under the age of 40.

We will see about after 40 later :)

13. What personality trait do people most often associate with you? What other dominant trait do you have that people overlook? Most people would say that I am organized. Most people miss that I feel deeply, that I am passionate.

28. What games did you play in your home or neighborhood? My favorite game growing up was Talisman. I love most games and can play for hours.

38. How do you feel about winning? Losing? I actually don't care if I win, but it is actually hard for me to lose. I am usually that good at playing games.

SOUS DIE CUT CHALLENGE: LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION

Hello!! Welcome to today's die cut challenge at SOUS! For this challenge we are to use a die cut that correspond with "lights, camera, action".

Not too hard, right?

I have been hugely inspired by Ashley Horton and the Hip Kit Club these past few weeks. This layout is loosely based on something she did a while back with triangles.

I created a template using SCAL3 for the triangle template and worked mainly with the April kit from Hip Kit Club for this page.

The die cut camera and title are from the Silhouette Store.

This layout is really more about me and my budding hobby with photography.
This is one of the first photos I took of my son that I was really proud of.
It was taken some time during his 6th year.

I did some hand stitching on a few triangles and love the effect.

Hello World

I had a lot of fun putting this layout together. Over the past several months I have been slowly building my embellishment stash with more color and choices. 

I reached for so much of it today that I had to make myself stop adding more.

I was inspired by this layout here. I seem to be drawn towards brighter colors these days but only in small doses.

Since I'm in the photo I went a little "girly" on this layout too. Couldn't help it. I have a LOT of boy layouts and a little pink never hurt anyone.
