Who's ready for summer?!

Hello! Are you ready for warmer days yet? We have gotten a taste of it here for a few days while it was in the 50's.

Today I would like to share with you a layout about a lazy summer day. This photo has so many special meanings for me personally. You see, it represents our exchange student's second day with us. Actually, it is not even 24 hours later than when we picked him up from the airport.

My 6 year old (soon to be seven) had no problem immediately making Tobias a part of the family. I think it is easier for children to be accepting of whatever life gives them. To quote Joscelin (my son), "I just knew he was my brother."

I also love taking action shots of water!

I followed #69 sketch by My Scraps & More Sketches. The PP are mainly from EP's "A Perfect Summer" and "About a Boy".

Today was good, Today was FUN, Tomorrow is another one.

SOUS DIE CUT CHALLENGE: UMBRELLA

Hello and welcome to this week's die cut challenge at Stuck on U Sketches. This week's challenge is to use a die cut umbrella.

I was almost happy with how this card turned out. I really should have used patterned paper instead of just solid card stock. I did try to give it a little bit of dimension with the embossing and rhinestones.

I was inspired by this card on Pinterest. I loved it's simplicity and this card did come together incredibly fast.

Next time, I'll try it with patterned paper instead.

for my Teacher

This week we celebrated 'Teacher Appreciation Week' at my son's school. Each day the students and their families could participate in something special for the teachers and staff.

Day 1: Bring a fruit to help fill up a basket
Day 2: Provide a breakfast dish
etc, etc.
Day 5: Write a thank you note

Well . . . I made cards instead!! I was very pleased with how these turned out. So much that I actually did not want to give these up!

What can I say? I love large eyes and cute bears.

The design and sketch of the card was inspired by this card on Pinterest.

The bears and apples are svg files from Scrapping Bug Designs "Bushel of Blessings."

SOUS DIE CUT CHALLENGE: SOMETHING SWEET

"BERRY SWEET"

Spring of 2012 was my family's first time picking strawberries and it was a PERFECT day! The great thing about being on SOUS DT is that I am going back to all those photos that I keeping meaning to scrapbook.

This week's challenge is to use a die cut that represents something "sweet". Very ripe, freshly picked strawberries fits that criteria! I'm sure my son ate more than he picked!

I followed this sketch from Pinterest.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my LO this week. So hop on over to SOUS's blog and see what else our talented ladies have come up with.

OH - and I challenge you to come up with your own version of "something sweet".

Happy Birthday Cards

Hello! Today I'm here to share with you some birthday cards I made for three girls in our foreign exchange student group. We are celebrating actual birthdays and "half-way" birthdays for the some of the teens. My teen gets a birthday cake (made by me) instead! I didn't think he would want a girly card.

I was greatly inspired by this card here. I was going to make cards with cute die cut bears on them but one of the young ladies was so enamored with my hand made flowers I decided to go a different route.

I did an "assembly" line thing and made three identical cards with different patterned paper. I really attacked my leftover paper stash for all the flags and triangles on these cards.

For the first time in AGES I used ribbon. Aren't you proud?!
